6. TIE BREAKER FORMULA:

League Play:

Where the schedule is balanced if two teams are tied in points at the end of the season schedule the following procedure will apply to determine ranking for all purposes:

  • Head to head record of teams tied, if still tied

  • Most wins in league play, if still tied

  • Least Goals against, if still tied

  • Tie breaker game to determine position within 2 days of season end;

o Coin toss for home ice

o 3 x 10-minute overtime periods, to be approved by Lakeshore REM if tied at the end of regulation time, play another game

Where the schedule is balanced, and three or more teams are tied in points at the end of the season the following procedure will apply to determine ranking for all purposes:

  • Most wins in the season, if still tied remaining tied teams;

  • Least Goals against in the season, if still tied remaining tied teams;

  • Only the tied teams’ head to head scores will be used and if tied then all regular season games scores will be used.

      Example For = 10

       Against = 4

Percentage 10 / (10+4) = .714

Note: The higher percentage (1.0 being the highest attainable)

Where the schedule is not balanced and win % determines standings, if two teams are tied in win % at the end of the season schedule the following procedure will apply to determine ranking for all purposes:

  • Head to head record of teams tied, if still tied

  • Most wins in league play, if still tied

  • Least Goals against, if still tied

  • Tie breaker game to determine position within 2 days of season end;

    • Coin toss for home ice

    • 3 x 10-minute overtime periods, to be approved by Lakeshore REM if tied at the end of regulation time, play another game
