OMHA Coach 1clinic Sat Nov 25 (Uxbridge) and Coach 2 Clinic Sun Nov 26 (Port Perry)
North Durham are planning to hold a Coach 1 and Coach 2, to clinic this weekend as per below.  This will be the last clinic offered in advance of Rostering deadline of Dec 1 2017.Please let your associations know ASAP. as attendees need t be registered by tomorrow (and have completed the 4 hour online HU course)

The North Durham Minor Hockey Association will be offering Coach 1 and Coach 2 training courses on Saturday, November 25 and Sunday, November 26, 2017. These are the final OMHA offered Coach 1 and Coach 2 training clinics available anywhere in the OMHA before the December 1, 2017 OMHA roster deadline.   

IMMEDIATE ACTION IS NEEDED BY TONIGHT IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO JOIN THESE COURSES

Unrostered teams (House League, House League Select, Representative) CAN NOT play after Dec 1 2017.
 
NOTE ALL INTERESTED PARTICIPANTS FOR EITHER SESSION MUST COMPLETE Step 1 AND be registered for Step 2 No later than 11:59:59 PM Monday November 20, so that all materials can be ordered Tuesday Nov 21 and shipped by OMHA in time for delivery to NDMHA
 
NOTE: SPACE IS LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM OF 40 attendees per session and it is open to all OMHA associations to attend,

Who should take the course(s);
 
COACH 1
  • any and all current NDMHA House League  IP Coaches that are missing their Coach 1 certification according to NDMHA and Hockey Canada Registration.  If you are not registered as COACH 1 trained, your team can not be rostered.
  • any NDMHA parent or interested volunteer that may wish to Coach House League IP or join an IP coaching staff this year or volunteer to coach IP next year.
COACH 2
  • any and all current NDMHA House League Coaches (excluding IP) that are missing their Coach 2 certification according to NDMHA and Hockey Canada Registration.  If you are not registered as COACH 2 trained, your team can not be rostered, this also impacts House League Select teams as well.
  • any NDMHA parent or interested volunteer that may wish to coach any House League age group (other then IP) or join a House League coaching staff this year (other then IP)  or volunteer to coach (non IP) house League next year.
COST
$200/person/course
 
NOTE: NDMHA volunteers that complete the clinic and are on a rostered team bench, will be reimbursed by NDMHA, once you have completed the Clinic, are registered as Trained on the Hockey Canada registration, and submit your expense from via the NDMHA website.

STEP 1.  Sign Up (and complete the ONLINE Hockey University Course) via the OMHA website.

FORMAT FOR COACH 1
 
The Coach 1 – Intro to Coach Clinic is delivered in two steps:
 
STEP 1 - Four hour Hockey University *HU – ONLINE Coach 1 / 2 clinic: This course must be completed before registering for Step 2. The only way to access the Hockey University (*HU) online module is to register for a Hockey University *HU – ONLINE Coach 1/2 clinic. Upon registration you will be provided with a link to the Hockey University (*HU) online module.
 
 
Step 2 The Coach 1 – Coach Level Clinic focuses on getting your players moving in the right way and enjoying themselves while introducing them to the sport of hockey. You will also learn the fundamentals of fitness and how to be a positive role model to your athletes. Includes 4 hours in-class and 2 hours on-ice.
 
 
FORMAT COACH 2
 
The Coach 2 – Coach Level clinic is delivered in two steps.
 
STEP 1 Four hour Hockey University *HU – ONLINE Coach 1 / 2 clinic: This course must be completed before registering for Step 2. The only way to access the Hockey University (*HU) online module is to register for a Hockey University *HU – ONLINE Coach 1/2 clinic. Upon registration you will be provided with a link to the Hockey University (*HU) online module. If you already have the Hockey University *HU – ONLINE Coach 1 / 2 course from a previous Coach 1 or Coach 2 clinic you are not required to take it again.
 
STEP 2 In-person clinic: Includes 4 hours in-class and 2 hours on-ice.
 
 
Details of the Coach 1 and Learning Objectives
 
COACH 1
This Coach 1 – Intro to Coach Clinic is tailored for the coach who will be coaching a Tyke or Initiation Program. The Coach 1 – Intro to Coach Clinic focuses on getting your players moving in the right way and enjoying themselves while introducing them to the sport of hockey. You will also learn the fundamentals of fitness and how to be a positive role model to your athletes.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The program is based with the players development in mind, starting with basic, technical skills. Upon completing this clinic you will be trained to: Use HOCKEY CANADA resources to plan on/off-ice activities; Communicate effectively with players, parents, officials and league administrators; Encourage participants and work within fair play guidelines; Conduct safe, effective and age appropriate on-ice practice drills; Apply an ethical decision making process.
 
 
 
EVALUATION & CERTIFICATION
Upon completion of each clinic you will be considered ‘Trained’. ‘Certified’ status is not required at any level of hockey in the OMHA
 
 
ATTENDEES ARE TO PROVIDE THEIR OWN LUNCH and BEVERAGES.  Full snack bars are available at each arena where the clinics are being offered.
